2014
Dr.
Richard
Marasa,
Gateway
Regional
High
School
Class
of
1971,
has
been
inducted
into
the
Gateway
Hall
of
Fame.
He
was
honored
at
the
Academic
Awards
Ceremony
for
his
outstanding
achievement
in
the
medical
field.
Attending
the
award
ceremony
with
Dr.
Marasa
was
his
uncle,
Mr.
Robert
Marasa
After
graduating
from
Gateway,
Dr.
Marasa
attended
Rutgers
University
in
New
Brunswick
where
he
earned
his
BS
in
Animal
Science.
He
then
proceeded
to
the
University
of
Maryland
School
of
Medicine
where
he
received
his
Doctorate
in
medicine.
Dr.
Marasa
served
his
Internal
Medicine
Residencies
at
Prince
Georges
Hospital
and
Union
Memorial
Hospital
in
Maryland,
before
earning
his
MBA
at
Rensselaer
Polytecnic
Institute
in
New
York.
Dr.
Marasa,
who
started
as
an
Internal
Medicine
doctor
in
private
practice,
rose
through
the
healthcare
ranks
serving
as
an
emergency
room
physician,
took
on
administrative
responsibilities,
and
served
on
advisory
committees
for
regional
care
providers.
He
is
currently
the
Medical
Director
of
Emergency
Medicine
at
Mount
Ascutney
Hospital
and
Medical
Center
in
Windsor,
Vermont.
Dr.
Marasa
also
serves
as
an
on-‐
call
physician
in
the
Orthopedic
Department
at
the
Alice
Peck
Day
Memorial
Hospital
in
Lebanon,
New
Hampshire.
Dr.
Marasa
resides
in
Springfield,
Vermont
with
his
wife
Geralyn
and
daughters
Morgan
and
Danielle.
Family
recreational
activities
include
golfing,
ballroom
dancing,
and
whatever
his
teenage
daughter
cares
to
