Family  and  Consumer  Sciences   Cupcake  Wars  at  Gateway   Students   in   Mrs.   Muller’s   cooking   classes   had   their   creative   juices   flowing   during   the   end   of   the   year   Cupcake   Wars   assignment.   Groups   of   students   were   instructed   to   work   together   on   this   assignment,   competing   against   other   teams   to   see   who   could   produce  the  best,  most  original  cupcake  creation.       Their   goal   was   to   create   an   appealing   and   original   cupcake   design   with   color,   texture,   and   taste   in   accordance   with   American   History   week.     Students   came   up   with   many   unique   patterns   for   their   projects   and   all   of   the   entries   were   exceptional.     Shown   are   the   team   of   Jack   Lerner,   Isabella   Armento   and   Miranda  Braun  with  their  hamburger  cupcakes.    Don’t   they  look  yummy?    Is  it  lunchtime  yet?     Language  Department     NATIONAL  LATIN  EXAM  AWARDS   Twenty  Latin  students  from  Gateway  Regional  High  School  have  received  awards  for  their  high   scores   on   the   National   Latin   Exam,   which   is   administered   jointly   by   the   American   Classical   League  and  the  National  Jr.  Classical  League.  Students  so  honored  were:   3rd  Place  Magna  Cum  Laude  Certificates  –  Jacob  Fayette,  Latin  III;  Alyssa  Carpo,  Latin  I;  Dennis   Dziewa,   Latin   I;   Glenn   Masterson,   Latin   I;   Starr   Nitschke,   Latin   I;   Sarah   Pellegrino,   Latin   I;   Scarlet  McNulty,  Latin  Intro;  Evan  Sheehan,  Latin  Intro.   4th  Place  Cum  Laude  Certificates  –  Katherine  Christensen,  Latin  V;  Catherine  Moran,  Latin  III;   Luke   Berenato,   Latin   II;   Leah   Cohen,   Latin   II;   Madeline   Kendall,   Latin   II;   Julia   Weikart,   Latin   II;   Taylor  Harrison,  Latin  I;  Emily  McCullough,  Latin  I;  Jared  Fayette,  Latin  Intro;   Rose  Malfitano,   Latin  Intro;  Mark  Milhous,  Latin  Intro;  Christopher  Wileczek,  Latin  Intro.              Over   154,000   students   from   the   United   States,   Canada,   Europe,   Australia,   China,   Japan,   Korea,   Iran,   Malaysia,   and   Africa   participated   in   this   examination   which   tested   the   students’   knowledge  of  Latin  grammar  as  well  as  classic  mythology,  history,  and  literature.
