Challenge Day
at Gateway
A Huge Success!
On
Friday,
February
21st,
Gateway
hosted
a
Challenge
Day
for
eighth
and
ninth
grade
students.
The
Challenge
Day
organization
has
been
serving
students
in
public
and
private
school
settings
for
over
25
years
and
have
shown
positive
results
in
the
reduction
of
violence,
bullying,
substance
abuse,
as
well
as
an
increase
in
school
safety
and
emotional
connections
among
peers.
Select
students,
teachers,
and
administrative
staff
participated
in
this
daylong
program.
Those
in
attendance
shared,
laughed,
cried,
and
unburdened
themselves
in
a
“Gateway
Family”
environment
where
all
were
accepted
and
no
one
ridiculed
for
anything
they
did,
said,
or
felt.
The
purpose
of
this
program
is
to
promote
the
tools
for
sharing
emotions,
feeling
empathy
for
one
another,
and
accepting
each
other
for
who
we
are.
Everyone
involved
was
incredibly
moved
and
ready
to
do
their
part
in
making
a
better
school
environment
for
all.
Gateway
hopes
to
be
able
to
offer
this
program
to
all
students,
staff,
and
administrators
in
the
near
future.
