Gateway Spring Musical
Gateway Regional High School’ s musical production of Godspell was a resounding success, showing just how much talent and tenacity these students have when it comes to bringing a story to life. Based on the New Testament Book of Matthew, this original 1970’ s production is chock full of fantastic costumes, great music, familiar story lines gleaned from the Parables, and an incredibly powerful ending that left the audience in shock and tears, earning itself a standing ovation with every performance. The two leads playing Jesus were Jarrod Cupps and Sean McCall; John the Baptist was played by Kyle Lloyd and Judas by Eddie Gilbert. The supporting cast, who are too many to mention, did a phenomenal job, for without them this play could not have been put together so well.
John The Baptist and Judas rev up the crowd singing“ God Save The People” in praise of Jesus.
The crowd expresses to Jesus their desire to get closer to him and get to know him better –“ See thee more clearly … Love thee more dearly... Follow thee more nearly … Day by Day”.
