Gateway ’ s mentoring program , now in its eighth year , encourages senior high school and new middle school students to mingle together as they play board games , share stories and eat snacks while getting to know one another . Throughout the course of the year , the students communicated with one another in person , via text , email , and Facebook to discuss issues that may arise during the school day . The high school students provide assistance with lockers , schedules , and getting the 7th grade students involved in activities that will enrich their experience at Gateway .
