The best time to visit Weekuri is in the afternoon when the sun sinks in the west and the blue sky is reflected on the lake . Getting there takes some effort . Located in North Kodi , in the Southwest Sumba Regency , there are no landmarks or clear road directions , despite Lake Weekuri having been known to the general public since 2010 . This section of road can only accommodate one four-wheel vehicle and is hidden by shrubs . Maybe this is what makes the lake special .

As with all traditional Sumbanese communities , the centre of the village is reserved not for the living but for the dead . The houses form a circle around the stone ‘ table-tops ’ of ancient tombs , which are in turn built among the rubble of other tombs that date far back in history .

One slice of heaven that you should not pass up when visiting Sumba is Weekuri Lake , an exotic lake separated from the sea by a rocky cliff , which promises visitors fun swimming opportunities and the pleasure of enjoying the blue waters from the shore .
