These new routes mark an unprecedented level of connectivity for the region, making the virtually remote and pristine Papuan Islands easily accessible from major Indonesian cities, including Jakarta, Makassar, Surabaya, Manado and Denpasar. To celebrate, we venture deep into Papua’s luscious emerald islands, sharing with you its untouched, natural exoticism. Abroad in the UK, we explore a very different archipelago at the edge of the Atlantic, the Isles of Scilly, a ravishing and rugged collection of about 140 islands far down at the southwestern tip of England. Next, we fly to Matsumoto in Japan, an unassuming town in Japan’s alpine foothills and a convenient base from which to explore some of central Honshu island’s many treasures. Our last stop brings us back to Indonesia to discover Wehea, a protected pocket of ancient virgin rainforest that is sacred to the local Dayak people, and home to some of Borneo’s most beautiful flora and fauna.
