Dear Valued Customers,
First of all, I would like to welcome you
aboard and I hope you enjoy your flight
today with Garuda Indonesia.
This past September 2015 marked a
significant milestone for us in-line
with the development programmes that
we are committed to continuously
implementing. Through our subsidiary,
Garuda Maintenance Facility AeroAsia
(GMFAA), Garuda Indonesia has officially
begun operating Hangar IV at SoekarnoHatta International Airport, Cengkareng.
Hangar IV, which was entirely conceived
and constructed by some of the nation’s
brightest minds, is the largest narrow
body aircraft hangar in the world; capable
of holding up to 16 narrow body aircraft at
once. Hangar IV features a creative, state-ofthe-art design with a dynamic concept
that utilizes advanced technologies while
remaining energy efficient with an
environmentally-friendly construction.
The completion of Hangar IV will help to
bolster Garuda Indonesia’s main pillar of
business while simultaneously reinforcing
the position of GMFAA as a global player
in the Maintenance Repair and Overhaul
(MRO) industry. The continuous
development efforts to establish GMFAA
as one of the best MRO facilities in the world

is crucial for us to pursue, as in the next
20 years the world centre for aircraft fleet
maintenance will shift to the Asia Pacific
as air traffic in the region continues to
show strong positive growth.
In addition to addressing the anticipated
significant market growth and expected
demand for MRO in the Asia Pacific region,
the opening of Hangar IV also supports the
ongoing fleet expansion programme of
Garuda Indonesia. By 2020, Garuda
Indonesia and Citilink will operate an
expected 241 narrow body, regional jet
and turboprop aircraft.
As we take these momentous steps forward,
we remain mindful of directing our efforts to
maintain Garuda Indonesia as a flag carrier
that the whole country can be proud of.

inspires us to continue to grow and to
