After all, ‘The New
York of the South’ is
a constantly moving
metropolis that is once
again open for business.
Glen Iris serves locally made doughnuts,
espressos and Atlanta-roasted single origin
coffees and blends. Part of Batdorf & Bronson
Coffee Roasters, Dancing Goats is the first
business to open in Old Fourth Ward’s
anticipated Ponce City Market redevelopment,
the largest adaptive reuse project in Atlanta’s

of 1.1 million square feet of a historic Sears,
Roebuck & Company building to create
a destination akin to New York City’s
Chelsea Market.

Hop back on the Eastside Trail with java in
hand and continue the saunter to Paris on
Ponce, a 46,000-square-foot orange building
filled with rooms of art, antiques and eccentric
oddities. Conclude the pedestrian sightseeing
at the marvellous green space that is Piedmont
Park, situated at the end of the Eastside Trail.
Atlanta’s own Central Park, this vast grassy
space is home to the Atlanta Botanical
Garden, a dog park, a Saturday morning green
market, walking and running trails, as well as
tennis courts, a pool and much more. Order
a local craft beer at Park Tavern or spread
a blanket down below a dogwood tree and
lie back, enjoying the captivating view of the
treescape backed by the Midtown skyline. Just
know, the next time you observe this city view
it may look different. After all, ‘The New York
of the South’ is a constantly moving metropolis
that is once again open for business.
