This is actually made
up of eight different
photos stitched together
to capture the full glory
of this supercell. The
beauty of this day, in May
of 2015, is that we got on
this storm early and
watched it come right
at us for over half an hour.
By the time the rain and
hail started to fall,
we were racing north,
but we pulled over and
looked back to watch this
monster supercell crossing
the road right where
we had been.

Sometimes a long day
pays off at the very end.
We started chasing north
of Tucumcari, New
Mexico, early in the
afternoon and the
storms didn’t turn out
to be much and as they
moved by, they started
developing more to the
southeast. So we raced in
that direction, zigzagging east, then south,
then east, then south.
We end up in Texas and
are finally ahead of the
incoming storms. We
head back west to
intercept this supercell
and it was like we
stumbled onto another
planet. The quiet, the
lightning the thunder, the
orange glow everywhere,
the ominous sky... it felt
like another world.

dan rasanya seperti
menemukan planet lain.

cahaya jingga di manamana, langit
menakutkan... rasanya
seperti di dunia lain.
