This July, we begin our journey by flying to Jeonju, South Korea. Situated in the southwest of the country, and only two hours from Seoul, Jeonju is a favourite destination for food lovers from the capital or those simply wanting to escape momentarily from the noise of the big city. To celebrate the birthdays of two of Indonesia’s big cities, Medan and Manado, we include an adventure story from one of our favourite writers. Medan, the largest city in Sumatra, is a pluralistic metropolis where the past exists alongside the present. As well as exploring its architectural riches and unique culinary flavours, we take you to see its best museums. For those of you wishing to explore the wonders that lie below the sea, we then travel to Bunaken, Manado. Bunaken was well known to divers for decades before other destinations such as Komodo, Weh, Wakatobi, Alor, Togean or Raja Ampat became popular. To close this edition, we journey to Muscat, Oman, a perfect combination of the ancient and the modern, visiting markets, historical buildings and museums to learn more about this Arabian city’s grand history.
