With his designs defined by drama and fantasy, Saverio carefully crafts every one of his haute couture collections to have a spectacular and grandiose presence, on and off the runway. Tex Saverio Saverio made his first big splash on the fashion scene with the introduction of his La Glacon line – a meticulously crafted collection in tulle, organza and laser-cut leather in silver and grey palettes – at the 2010 Jakarta Fashion Week. The designer’s big international break came just two years later when he was contracted by Nicola Formichetti to create a gown for Lady Gaga for the May edition of US Harper’s Bazaar. Saverio’s rise to international recognition has accelerated in recent years as big-name celebrities choose to wear gowns designed by the couturier. From Kim Kardashian’s hand-embroidered gown in Elle magazine to Jennifer Lawrence’s striking wedding dress in the hit film Hunger Games: Catching Fire, famous fashionistas are captivated by Saverio’s dramatic aesthetic and scrupulous attention to detail. “I would like to design a gown for Angelina Jolie,” says Saverio. “To me she embodies the characteristics of the perfect Tex Saverio woman – beautiful, smart and unafraid of making a statement.” In 2012, Tex Saverio, along with his business partner Faye Liu, took on a new venture to expand his brand with a ready-to-wear label, Saverio & Liu. The label retains all of the signature elements of his couture creations while aiming to translate the designer’s style into a more accessible line. With a slew of upcoming fashion events this year, Tex Saverio’s name continues to morph into a truly global luxury brand. “I am working on collaborations with Swarovski, Indonesia Fashion Forward and Magnum, and I will also be showing my Spring/Summer 2015 ready-to-wear collection at Paris Fashion Week this coming September,” says Saverio. www.texsaverio.com
