The Garuda Indonesia
World Photo Contest
(GAWPC) 2014, this year
themed ‘Amazing World’,
has closed and the winners
were announced on June 20,
2014, in Labuan Bajo,
Flores, East Indonesia, at
the Jayakarta Hotel.
Now in its seventh year, the popular
photography contest attracted over
74,000 entries from March 12 to May 12.
An international panel of judges selected
15 finalists, who were flown to Labuan

Bajo from June 17 to 19 to take new
photos which would be reviewed by a
panel of three judges – Rio Helmi, a prolific
photojournalist from Indonesia, Arbain
Rambey, a senior photographer from
Kompas newspaper, and Goh Kim Hui,
a professional photographer from
Singapore – to determine five winners
in five categories.
The Best Overall title went to Achmad
Zaeni from Indonesia, David Lazar from
Australia won in the Best Culture category,
Phan Van Hien from Vietnam took the Best
People title, Andru Kosti from Indonesia
received the Best in Nature award, and
Muhammad Yusri from Indonesia won
the Special Recognition category.
