Welcoming 2017 , on behalf of the management and all Garuda Indonesia employees , we wish you , our loyal Garuda Indonesia customers , a Happy New Year 2017 .
The start of the year is always a good opportunity for us to strengthen our commitment to carry on our programmes and activities following the achievements we have obtained in the past year .
The year 2016 was an important year for Garuda Indonesia . In December , as a form of recognition of our innovative products and services , Garuda Indonesia received ‘ The World ’ s Most Loved Airline ’ award from Skytrax .
Through its website , Skytrax officially announced that Garuda Indonesia has successfully ranked first as the airline that the world loves the most , with a satisfaction rate of 85 per cent among the 420 airlines across the world that participated in the Skytrax survey . The results were based on the reviews of more than 4.5 million respondents in the rating phase of ‘ The World ’ s Most Loved Airline ’.
Surely , we would not have been able to achieve the award without the support of Garuda Indonesia ’ s loyal customers and the hard work of all Garuda Indonesia employees .
Moreover , nearing the end of 2016 , Garuda Indonesia has also launched two new international routes : Surabaya – Medina and Jakarta – Mumbai . The launch of the Surabaya – Medina route was part of our efforts to expand our market in the Middle East while providing our customers , especially those in and around East Java , with more travelling options .
Meanwhile , the Jakarta – Mumbai via Bangkok route was launched in mid-December as a form of our effort to not only expand our network in the Asia region , but also to support the government ’ s efforts to increase the number of foreign visitors , especially from India , considering the two country ’ s strong cultural and historical relationship .
