Dear Valued Customers,
January is always an auspicious time for fresh
starts and new beginnings, and this year, following
an Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders
(EGMS) in December 2014, I was appointed as the
new President and CEO of PT Garuda Indonesia
(Persero) Tbk., succeeding Emirsyah Satar, and
tasked with delivering further milestones in our
quest to strengthen our position at the forefront
of the global airline industry.
Before I begin, I would like to take a moment to
wish a very happy and successful New Year 2015 to
all of our valued customers.
The arrival of a new year also offers an excellent
opportunity to review and reevaluate the goals
achieved in 2014, and establish appropriate
programmes and initiatives to ensure continued
success and importantly, to aim for even greater
accomplishments in the years to come.
To maintain the momentum that Garuda
Indonesia has achieved thus far with multiple
significant milestones over a relatively short
time-frame, our initial plan in the short term is
to focus on a three-pronged strategy that includes:
reviewing our ‘Revenue Generators’ and
capitalising on all opportunities to maximise
company revenue; ‘Restructuring of Cost Drivers’
wherein Garuda Indonesia will conduct an
extensive restructuring of its costs to achieve
higher efficiency; and ‘Refinancing’ that will see
Garuda Indonesia implement a range of new
strategic measures to safeguard the financial
position of the company.
Furthermore, I would also like to take this
opportunity to share some exciting news that,
following the distinction of having “The World’s
Best Cabin Crew”, on December 11, 2014,
Garuda Indonesia successfully attained the rating
of a 5-Star Airline, as designated by the renowned
UK-based independent commercial aviation
research firm, Skytrax.
With this achievement, Garuda Indonesia now joins
the limited ranks of only seven 5-Star Airlines in the
world, alongside the likes of All Nippon Airways,
Asiana Airlines, Cathay Pacific Airways, Hainan
Airlines, Singapore Airlines and Qatar Airways.
This highest honour is the direct result of the
tireless hard work of the entire Garuda Indonesia
team at every level, and it is also certainly
inseparable from the unwavering support of
Garuda Indonesia’s stakeholders, including you,
our most valued Garuda Indonesia customers.
Finally, on behalf of the whole team at
Garuda Indonesia, I wish to extend our sincerest
thanks and appreciation to each and every one of
our valued customers for your continued trust and
loyalty in choosing to fly with Garuda Indonesia,
as well as for your support and encouragement
that fuels us to fly to progressively greater heights
in the future.
