As the flag carrier of Indonesia , Garuda Indonesia supports the regional economic development programme by providing aircraft not only for the transport of passengers , but also for the delivery of cargo to many regions in Indonesia .
As part of our efforts towards improving service for our customers , especially the users of our cargo service , last December Garuda Indonesia expanded its cargo network by collaborating with PT Pos Indonesia . This collaboration is not only expected to provide added value for the customers of both companies , but also to strengthen our synergy and position within our respective industries .
Through the collaboration , we will strive to mutually utilise each of our distribution channels to expand our cargo shipping network to reach and serve all people in all areas across Indonesia .
As a pilot project , we have recently opened our first collaborative outlet in Makassar , South Sulawesi , the gateway to eastern Indonesia .
Moreover , we would like to take this opportunity to share the good news that in late January , Garuda Indonesia was chosen as the host of the State-Owned Enterprises ’ Anniversary ( HUT BUMN ) celebration in Mandalika , Lombok .
During the Lombok event , SOE Minister Rini M . Soemarno and 123 heads of state-owned enterprises unanimously agreed to support the government ’ s programme of promoting Mandalika as one of its priority destinations . The support also takes the form of a corporate social responsibility ( CSR ) programme to drive Mandalika ’ s economic growth .
The implementation and support of state-owned enterprises are expected to help shape Mandalika into an independent region , allowing it to become a new economic centre in the future , as well as a leading tourist destination as an alternative to Bali .
