C alls for S ervice A CALL FOR SERVICE (CFS) represents one incident or situation that was initiated by or brought to the attention of the Garner Police Department and was handled through the application of departmental resources. Calls for service originate from citizens (citizen-initiated CFS) and police officers patrolling the community (officer-initiated CFS). Calls for service vary in nature, severity, and the level of departmental resources required to address them—particularly with regard to the number of staff members and the staff time required to adequately and appropriately handle the call for service. Analyses were completed on citizen-initiated and officer-initiated calls for service using data from Raleigh Wake Emergency Communications Center, which serves as our dispatching service agency. These graphs illustrate the total calls for service by initiating party for 2018 and the three-year trend: C alls for S ervice by I nitiating P arty in 2018 12,479 (36%) 22,352 (64%) C itizen O fficer T otal C alls for S ervice —3-Y ear C omparison 40,000 35,856 38,693 34,831 30,000 21,518 21,786 22,352 T otal C alls for S ervice 20,000 10,000 14,338 16,907 12,479 O fficer 0 2016 14 C itizen 2017 2018 GARNER POLICE DEPARTMENT 2018 ANNUAL REPORT
