handled 1,090 calls for service, including the response
to 313 stray animals, 71 reports of vicious animals,
60 reported animal bites, and 94 cases of reported
animal cruelty.
OPERATIONS BUREAU – SPECIAL TEAMS
The Special Response Team (SRT) is currently
commanded by the Patrol Lieutenant, Paul Caldwell.
The SRT is a part-time assignment responsible for
high risk critical incidents such as barricaded persons,
hostage situations, warrant service, or other incidents
as needed.
The Administration Lieutenant, Walter Myer,
supervises the Crisis Negotiations Team (CNT).
The CNT provides support in operations involving
barricaded, suicidal, or non-compliant individuals.

Animal Control Officer.

The K-9 Unit is supervised by our K-9 Training
Officer, Sonny Roberson. He manages police K-9 and
coordinates training of three other handlers. The K-9
Unit trains to detect illegal narcotics, perform suspect
or victim tracking, search buildings or wooded areas
for suspects, or locate evidence. K-9 officers undergo
hundreds of hours of training with their assigned
police dogs to become proficient in these tasks.
