With E3 starting of slow, this presentation was one of the two most anticipated conferences of E3, the other being Sony. I am a PS4 owner myself but I am not a Xbox hater. I like all consoles and hope to one day own both consoles to be able to expand my gaming universe.
Well the conference started strong with the announcement of the Xbox One S. I hate to say this but it look very similar to the PS4. According to their announcement, this new Xbox will have more power than the previous
version and also it has the capability to upgrade the
harddrive up to 2 Terrabites which is amazing. It also
showcased the new wireless controller, which for me
was a bit underwhelming. They showed a price point
starting at $299 dollars and a release date of August
2016. I don't know how I feel about this, in one hand it looks amazing and has better hardware and software, but on the other hand, it looks too much like the PS4. I feel like they could have done a sleeker design or something new. This for me was not a bust but because it is inmensely similar to the PS4 it is not a win in my book!
The first game showcased was Gears of War 4. Before the trailer they talked about Xbox Plays, which Microsoft is pushing as a cross-plataform that includes saves
between PC and Xbox and also multiplayer capabilities
between them. It sounds good, but we will see if it is
worth it. Now returning to the game itself, the
campaign trailer does look interesting. The gameplay
looks fluid and the graphics look great. the game will
be coming out it on October 11th and there will be a Gears 4 Elite controller also available. This game is definitly a win!
Then they showcased Killer Instinct which will contain a Xbox and Windows 10 exclusive character from Gears of War, General Raam, which was free for E3's week. This was underwhelming for me to say the least.
