The reason why people think this way is because of stereotypes and media. People who blame video games for causing mass shootings and serial killings state that the people who conduct them played too many violent video games. However, anyone who voluntarily views something violent for long periods of time will show signs of aggression. Kids also tend to do what they see, if they excessively played a violent video game they too would become violent. However, that would be the fault of the parents. Many studies have shown that people become more agressive if the controls of a game aredifficult regardless of it's violence. A person playing Mario with difficult controls is more likely to become aggressive than a person playing a violent shooter. It is very wrong to believe that video games have caused people to become mindless killers. After all, murders were commited before video games ever existed.
