Although a game designer, he hardly spends time playing games. During his spare time, Miyamoto usually plays the guitar and banjo. Shigeru Miyamoto has two children with his wife, Yasuko Miyamoto, who was general manager of Nintendo of Japan in 1977. Neither of their children has expressed a desire to go into the family business. He claims that Yasuko doesn't like video games, but she is beginning to enjoy playing games like Brain Age and using the Wii's Everybody Votes Channel. His son, Kenshi Miyamoto has expressed a desire to become a pro surfer rather than a professional gamer. Miyamoto has a Shetland Sheepdog named Pikku that was the inspiration for Nintendogs. Miyamoto is described as being a semi-professional dog breeder. He is currently 61 years old.

Career at nintendo

Miyamoto fist created the video game mascot Donkey Kong along with Mario after converting the old arcade system game Radar Scope into the game Donkey Kong. Mario had gained so much popularity has been featured in over 100 platforming games. Miyamoto was usually credited as producer but he would rarely get very involved in games. Some games where he was heavliy involved in are Legend of Zelda:The Ocarina of Time and Super Mario 64. At the 1997 E3 convention, Miyamoto stated that he usually worked with around four-hundred people during project development.
