Seth Jarvis had a tremendous first season with the RHA Nationals. He led
the team in scoring and was No. 2 in the Bantam Prep Division of the Cana-
dian School Sports Hockey League. Now, with the season over, Jarvis will
start thinking about the 2017 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft. He’s
expected to be the second overall pick. Of course, he’s also been offered
a full ride to the University of Minnesota-Duluth and other NCAA programs
are interested. This kid’s future is so bright they don’t make shades strong
enough to keep out the sunshine.

Jarvis, it’s all about gathering infor-
mation.
After all, the 15-year-old bantam star (he
turned 15 on Feb. 1), is going to have a number
of big decisions to make in the next couple of
years. Then again, when you have 42 goals
and 66 points in 30 games in the Bantam
Prep Division of the Canadian School Sports
Hockey League, people will take notice.
In fact, at least one NCAA Division 1 uni-
versity has already offered Jarvis a full four-
year ride and he still has three years of high
school remaining.
The man who did the recruiting (and must
remain anonymous at this stage) said, “Why
wouldn’t we offer him a full ride now? He’s
that good. At absolute worst, he’ll be a third-
line player at the NCAA Division 1 level and
we give our third line full scholarships. And
that’s the worst that could happen with his
skills.”
Seth Jarvis is a gifted player.
“Seth is a real special player,” said RHA Na-
tionals head coach Bruce Purdie. “I’ve seen
a lot of hockey players at this age: 13,14 and
15-year-olds who have gone through the pro-
vincial U-16 program, but his skating and his
ability to change directions quickly with the
puck is at the highest-levels I’ve ever seen.
“He’s really good at getting guys to hang
on his back and then just shed them off. He
can change directions at top speed and get
loose. Obviously, that allows him to create a
lot. As soon as he crosses that blue line, his
first target is to get to the net. He wants to
score goals. He’s competitive, is successful
on the ice and he’s a huge part of our offen-
sive game.”
For Jarvis, who is expected to be taken
