Shattuck Invades and Wins St. Mary’ s Academy’ s Female World Sports School Challenge

The 5th Annual Female World Sport School Challenge( FWSSC) took place at the MTS Iceplex in Winnipeg from March 16-19. The 2017 edition featured an eight-team draw with six teams from across western Canada, plus the Minnesota Revolution and Shattuck St. Mary’ s Sabres, both coming to Winnipeg from the Hockey State of Minnesota. Once again, the tournament was hosted by Winnipeg’ s own St. Mary’ s Academy and it was an exceptional weekend.

It was simply a remarkable display of female high school prep hockey. For one full weekend at MTS Iceplex, the Female World Sports School Challenge impressed tremendous crowds and showcased the best young female hockey players from both Canada and the United States. And once again, Shattuck-St. Mary’ s Academy from Faribault, Minn., dominated the event while the host team, Winnipeg’ s own St. Mary’ s Academy Flames, won the bronze medal. Shattuck was a terrific club. The Sabres went through the round robin portion of the tournament undefeated, whipping Thunder Bay 5-1, Notre Dame 6-0 and St. Mary’ s 8-2. They then beat the Minnesota Revolution 6-1 in the semifinal and got by Pursuit of Excellence 3-1 in
