Brett Davis Loving Dallas as he Returns to Kootenay
Oakbank’ s Brett Davis is back with the Western Hockey League’ s Kootenay Ice, but his heart is probably in Dallas, Texas. When we caught up to Davis at NRG( Seven Oaks Sportsplex) this summer, he was still fired up about his experience at Dallas Stars Development Camp in July.“ I was told that getting drafted was a 50-50 kind of thing,” Davis said.“ I wasn’ t stressing too much over it because I knew that if I wasn’ t going to be drafted, it wouldn’ t be the end of the road.” Davis is called“ a jack-of-all-trades forward that can play center and wing,” by a number of NHL and WHL scouts.“ He has excellent skating acceleration and a solid top speed,” said NHL Central Scouting.“ And he can produce points as both a finisher and a playmaker.”
After attending the Devlopment Camp in Dallas, he’ s fired up about a potential future as a professional.
“ I can’ t really put it into words,” he said after seeing his name on the NHL Network live feed.“ It was pretty amazing with my family watching. My mom and dad and my two brothers were with me and my mom got a little emotional – it was amazing.”
Drafted by the Lethbridge Hurricanes in the 4th round of the WHL Bantam Draft( 78th overall) in 2014. Traded from Lethbridge to Kootenay on Jan 2017
