Anderson is one of 21 in attendance for U SPORTS. Bisons Alanna Sharman, Lauryn Keen and Erica Rieder were selected but were unable to attend. It was the second consecutive year the U SPORTS All-Stars took part in the Summer Showcase. They played two games against each of Hockey Canada’s National Women’s Development Teams, as well as Japan’s national women’s program. Anderson, 21, completed her third season at Manitoba and earned her first U SPORTS All-Star selection. She was a 2016-17 U SPORTS Second Team All-Canadian and was a 2016-17 Canada West First Team All-Star. A Winnipegger, Anderson was second in U SPORTS in scoring by a defenseman with 18 points (four goals) while playing in 27 of 28 conference regular season games. Her 14 assists were second among U SPORTS and Canada West defensemen. The 5-foot-7 rearguard had a plus/minus rating of plus 19, best among U SPORTS defensemen. Manitobans Brigette Lacquette, Jocelyne Larocque, Halli Krzyzaniak and Bailey Bram were named to Canada’s Olympic Women’s Hockey Team’s Calgary-based centralized roster. Lacquette, 25, is from Mallard, Man., Larocque, 29, and Bram, 27, are from Ste. Anne, and Krzyzaniak, 22, hails from Neepawa. There are 28 players on the national centralized roster, but only 23 of those players will be with Team Canada when the Winter Olympics open in Pyeongchang, South Korea, in February of 2018. “One step closer,” Tweeted Krzyzaniak, who recently graduated from the University of North Dakota. “Excited and honored to be a part of this amazing group of athletes.
