Athletes are often categorised according to a rigid check list that
society has become familiar with. While the skill and athleticism
required to dance has captivated many parts of the world,
South Africa is still in the process of becoming familiar with the
idea of dance as a ‘sport’ and recognising dancers
as ‘athletes’.
