ST. MARY’S ACADEMY FLAMES
“I have a long affiliation, not only with St. Mary’s Academy, but
also with the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary, the
founding religious order of the school,” Yunyk explained. “And I’m
also an associate of the Sisters of the Holy Names. The Sisters have
been very good mentors and loyal to me and I have been very loyal
to them. I’m a Winnipeg and St. Mary’s girl through-and-through.
“When I was a student here at the school way back in the 70s, I
was part of the Athletic Council and we had all sorts of different
sports and teams but no hockey! Our high school hockey team be-
gan 18 years ago and the program is still going strong! However, this
