The Math Nerd
LUCAS FRY has no problem
calling himself a nerd. The
Grade 11 student at Shaftesbury
High School plays hockey for
the RHA Nationals Elite 15s,
but he also keeps up a 95
per cent average in school.
By his own admission, being
a “math nerd,” is no issue at all.
“Yeah, I’m the nerd of the
team and I like it,” said Fry,
pushing up his glasses. “Guys
can come to me whenever they
need help and I help them a

Nationals Bantam Prep Team is

program that is successful

success off the ice and Lucas
Fry is a prime example of that.
“Yep, Lucas is the team
Brainiac,” said Elite 15s
head coach Nick Fuher.
“He’s the kind of guy who
understands every subject
well, but math is his forte.
“However, he’s also done a
great job helping out the other
guys on the team. He’s been a
tutor and a mentor for the other
guys and he’s a great teammate
who comes from a great family.”
Fry, who is improving as a
player, makes no bones about the
fact that he likes school and he’s
