It was early in the summer of 2013 that Ron East and I sat down with the late Dale Hughesman and discussed the creation of a hockey magazine designed to promote the accomplishments of young Manitoba players from Timbits to the NHL. That first magazine was called Manitoba Hockey News.
In the spring of 2014, after Dale’ s passing, Game On Magazine began with myself, Jay Averbach and a talented group of writers and photographers( Carter Brooks, James Carey Lauder, Jeff Miller and John Ploszay) and now, as we enter our sixth year, it gives me great pleasure to look back and reflect on all the friends we’ ve made and the partners we’ ve welcomed into the fold.
On the right side of this page, you’ ll notice all the people who get this magazine to print every month. At the bottom of the page are the corporate logos of the people who make it possible. Without the support of advertisers from True North Sports and Entertainment, to Manitoba’ s outstanding junior hockey leagues to the folks at J-Max Auto Body and Glass, Miller’ s Meats, Merit Construction Services, Duraco Windows, Marcello’ s Meats, Green Blade Lawn Care and on and on, we wouldn’ t be able to bring you the stories of the best young athletes in our province.
