We need a little background into the events leading up to this wedding and my meeting Denis.
At this point suffice to say that he had come from Roodepoort in about 1958 to do a degree in
Agriculture at the University of Natal in Pietermaritzburg. He then worked in the laboratory at
Nestle as assistant Chemist. And after I had travelled ‘Overseas’ on my Big Bake Bean and
Bread Excursion (see my ‘famous’ Recipe Book), I came back to my parent’s home and once
more had to fit into the family (difficult) and earn a living (easy in those days). It was 1963 and
