charismatic that we were able to converse with them like an old friend whom we haven't spoken to in months!

They also allowed samples. With a little urging from Maria, I sampled cane juice with a refreshing dash of cinnamon and it was sinfully delicious. I also tried some homemade fudge and wine. They were splendid.

San Antonio Green Market is a place for family; whether it is husband and wife making a market run or grandparents with their grandchild. The jubilation in the faces of children as they enjoyed the ambiance of the market was priceless. Their excitement to sample the products, see the pineapples growing in the garden and watch the birds congregate around the bird feeders is contagious.

Many by-products of some natural sources were on sale. For instance, coconut shells were turned into earrings or some beautiful hand bags. Goat milk and aloe plant were mixed into a nice smelling concoction of hair shampoo. Not to mention the candles on sale! Some patrons were asked to smell several candles and name the fragrances but the creative mixtures were so well done that only a few of the ingredients were identifiable. When the contents of some of the candles were revealed to me, I was very surprised! Who would think that these things can make such lovely aromas?

The diversity of the market is exceptional. Accents from various countries around the globe were heard and people of all ages, races and backgrounds were seen. Each individual had a common goal: encouraging and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Sustainability, the green way, is the motif of the market and we helplessly indulged in the products from our blessed earth. No market experience is ever the same, so try treating yourselves to one, the green way.
