Gabrielle Walcott

We met up with Gabrielle, who like us, loves to Galavant. Gabrielle Walcott won the Miss Trinidad World competition in 2008 and placed 2nd runner- up in Miss World 2008. She was also a representative of Trinidad and Tobago in the Miss Universe 2011 competition in San Paulo Brazil. Although our meeting with her was brief, she was willing to share with us her galavanting experiences. Hope you enjoy!

How often do you go galavanting in Trinidad?

I have the fondest memory of my grandmother dressing up to leave the house and when anyone would ask her where she was off to, she would simply reply, galavanting. So any time I leave home I consider it an opportunity to Galavant.

Where do you love to Galavant locally?

I absolutely love living in San Fernando now. It reminds me of Trinidad in my childhood, but every now and then when I miss doing something trendy and new, I enjoy the ambiance of Dream Lounge and Restaurant near to Gulf City Mall.

What makes this place extra special?

It's beautiful modern interior, award winning bar experience and decidant food. It is a Galavanter's dream!

Have you explored anywhere off the beaten path? If yes, what was your experience like?

I'm an artist so I enjoy taking pictures of my beautiful country. Recently, I went to the Wild Fowl Trust for the first time and the water lilies and poui trees were in full bloom; it was magical!

Who do you Galavant with?

It's always most fun with family, friends and fellow artists.

Outside of Trinidad, where have you galavanted?

My husband and I went to Cancun for our honeymoon. We did everything from: swimming with dolphins and sharks, zip lining, underwater cave diving and repelling. We also completely enjoyed partying in a night club called The City which holds up to 8000 people.

Where would you like to Galavant next and why?

In San Fernando- Dream Lounge and Restaurant for my favorite calamari.

In Port of Spain- the Art Society to see what's new and inspiring.

Internationally- Europe because I've never been there.
