A Barbadian and a Trinidadian have joined forces and remade the game of archery Armed with a curved bow and an arrow, Maria and I made our way down from the stands to the turf of the Elite Archery Club. Excitement. Anxiety. A strong burst of adrenaline raged through our bodies, shot through our fingertips, and sharpened our focus as we took aim. With a loud “twang” our arrows flew in the direction of their intended targets with great urgency, and of course, we missed. A large, inviting banner tied around the fence of the Hillview College in El Dorado, Tunapuna, indicated the base for the club so we eagerly walked right in. The sport of archery is not a usual attraction on a trip, so we couldn’t resist. We had no idea that we were in for a treat! The coach and president of the club, Edward Ramesar is renowned in Trinidad and around the world. He has broken many archery records internationally, not to mention, he is currently ranked 71st in the world!
