This season, Butterfield is celebrating all things Totally Texas. Next up is“ Southern Fired Funeral” by J. Dietz Osborne and Nate Eppler a comedy about a family picking up the pieces following the passing of a loved one. Performances are Feb. 27 and 28 and March 5, 6 and 7 at 7 p. m. with a 2:30 p. m. matinee on March 8.
Following that is“ Agatha Christie Tackles Texas” by Eddie Cope, a humorous spoof of a mystery following a police officer who decides that writing about crime is more exciting than actually dealing with it on the street. Performances are May 1, 2, 7, 8, 9 and 10 with times to be determined.
This summer’ s musical is“ Hands on a Hardbody” by Doug Wright, following 10 individuals down on their luck trying to win a brand-new truck. All they have to do is be the last one to keep their hand on it, but being in the sun for days takes its toll on even the most stubborn Texans. Performances are June 18, 19, 20, 21, 25, 26, 27 and 28 with times to be determined.
It’ s not just the mainstage shows worth looking out for. The Youth Theater is also busy, with the next performances being a One-Act Play Festival featuring four different shows of kids showing off their talents. These performances will be March 13, 14 and 15.
The final show of the 2025-26 season is the youth production of“ Anne of Green Gables.” Based on the novel by L. M. Montgomery, this show shares the story of Anne Shirley as she navigates life among her newfound family and neighbors in the small farming community of Avonlea. Performances will be July 24, 25, 26 and 30 and Aug. 1 and 2 with times to be determined.
