This edition of the Gainesville Living magazine took a bit of an unexpected turn .
While it wasn ’ t our original intent to do a historical theme overall , that ’ s exactly what we got . And it makes perfect sense . Gainesville is well-known as the Medal of Honor Host City ( We ’ ve got big ideas for highlighting more of that in a future magazine , so stay tuned !) but there ’ s plenty more layers beneath that .
From one of the presumed first Texan MLB players to an architect that ’ s designed numerous structures you and I have visited , to quarter horse royalty and more , get to know some “ famous ” figures who have ties to Cooke County .
We ’ ve also compiled a photographic history of the many changes to landmarks and thoroughfares throughout Gainesville for you to enjoy .
I hope you enjoy reading it as much even half as much as we enjoyed researching it .
