McFarlan also had an older brother , Alex , an outfielder for played one season for the Colonels . He , however , was born in St . Louis .
Steven Darcel McBath
Darcel McBath was born in Gainesville and played defensive back and wide receiver for the Leopards , helping lead them to their 2003 3A state title over Burnet .
McBath attended and played for Texas Tech , and was drafted in the NFL second round by the Denver Broncos .
He ’ d go on to play for three different teams , before pursuing a coaching career in 2016 .
He currently serves as the cornerbacks coach at Texas Tech .
Carol Rose
A world-class show woman and horse breeder , Carol Rose came to Gainesville in 1966 , and became one of the first female leaders in the equine industry .
She and husband Matlock Rose showed numerous American Quarter Horses around the country , and had the opportunity in 1975 to stand Peppy San , an American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame inductee , at their training and breeding facility in Gainesville .

Rose was inducted in 2001 , she began competing in horse events as a child and developed her passion for horses from her mother , who taught her to rise and care for them .
In 1986 , Rose bought Diamonds Sparkle , who would join the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame and the National Reining Horse Association Hall of Fame .
She foaled the stallion Shining Spark , who became a multi-milliondollar sire and joined the NRHA Hall of Game .
Rose served as a judge for 14 years for the AQHA , and as a rider in the NCHA , earned more than $ 124,000 .
She also has rider earnings in the NRHA of more than $ 76,000 .
As a breeder , she has bred horses with earnings of more than $ 7 million .
Her other accolades include inductions to the National Cutting Horse Association Non-Pro Hall of Fame , Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame , American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame and National Reining Horse Association Hall of Fame .
To date , Rose still offers breeding contracts at her farm in Gainesville for Shining Spark , who passed in 2021 three weeks shy of his 33rd birthday .
David Moore
Another Gainesville High football alum , it was always David Moore ’ s dream to play football in the NFL .
A standout in basketball and football , Moore was forced to choose the latter while attending East Central University . It proved a wise decision , as the wide receiver was taken in the seventh round of the 2017 NFL draft by the Seattle Seahawks .
After signing a one-year contract with the Carolina Panthers last year , Moore played in all 17 games , started in five , and finished the 2024 season with 32 receptions for 351 yards and three touchdowns .
Lew Allen Jr .
Allen was a four-star general who served as the 10th Chief of Staff for the U . S . Air Force .
