In the animal kingdom, the cold months are the tell-tale signs of hibernation— a state where metabolism, heart rate and breathing slow to conserve energy during winter, when food is scarce.

Now as humans, we have no need to hibernate, as we’ ve adapted with building fires or storing food.
Still, there’ s a lesson in all of that biology— a reminder that we all need a little break to recharge.
This time is filled with the wonders of Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’ s, time with family, massive feasts, gift shopping, and in general, a lot of hustling and bustling.
As we get ready to embark on this next holiday season, I’ m making myself a priority. I’ m going to prioritize self-care, rest, compassion. After all, you can’ t pour into others from an empty cup. As we get closer to the holiday season, I’ d like to remind you that you don’ t have to do it all, right now. Take a breath. Rest for a moment. I promise it’ ll all still be there when you return. Then flip to these inside pages for some helpful tips on getting that holiday shopping and decorating done!
