A Swingin ’ Christmas has also been the start of some young performers ’ careers .
“ We had Travis Harris as one of our trombone players and his wife Maria would sing , and in our second or third one , their son Travi , who was probably seven or eight years old , he was going to sing Frosty the Snowman with his mom ,” said Patterson . “ We ’ re getting ready to go onstage , and Travi looked at his mother and said , ‘ I can do it by myself .’ And he sang that song by himself and did a good job with it … He ’ s now a sophomore at UNT .”
This year ’ s concert is Dec . 3 at 2:30 p . m . at the First State Bank Center for the Performing Arts on the Gainesville NCTC campus . Tickets re $ 10 for adults and $ 5 for youth .
