difference
in South
Korea

By Denis O’Brien
Laochra Busan GAA is more
than just a haven for Irish expats; it is a club that asserts itself
in an overseas setting as an entity
that cares about local community
and healthy pastimes beyond the
norm. Laochra Busan cares about
its place in South Korean society,
and by so doing, shows others that
it cares for itself and its member’s
welfare.
After the capital of Seoul, Busan
is the second largest city in Korea
with a population of 3.6 million
people. It is a beautiful city. It nestles along the southern coast of the
country with scenic landscapes
and local landmarks giving a taste
of Korean tradition and culture.
Though it’s considered the fifth
busiest seaport in the world, its elegant coastal outline setting sees it
also as a major tourist resort boasting the curving Haeundae Beach.
Busan’s chic high-rised skyline describes a modern and cutting edge
metropolis that attracts people
from all over the world including
Irish expats. Many Irish and international expats are there teaching
English and so it’s convenient to
find friends in their new home in
the East.
