GAELIC SPORTS WORLD

There’s a great many sporting clubs around
the world. Many in the professional arena
tend to attract the world of attention, leaving
one to wonder if it’s really merited. One might
ask if the said entity really matters in people’s
lives or has modern day razzmatazz conned
us all into thinking our relationship with ‘our’
‘local’ ‘city’ professional sports club, is worth
more than it appears.
Should we worry more about the club team,
or, worry more about the people in the local
community? They might not be one and the
same.
Sometimes a club comes along – and you
can have the professional variety too included
(though it’s easier for them to sell and even
market the do-gooding) – that decides to
look at the community they play their sports
in with new eyes. They are prepared to build
and foster social bonds for the long term.
The Laochra Busan GAA Club is one such
amateur sports club located in Busan,
South Korea. It loves its Gaelic sports but
it also seems to have something of a social
conscience that makes a difference for some
living down the street.
Gaelic Sports World in the main feature visits
with this progressive GAA club in Issue 4.
