In this 9th edition of Gaelic Sports
World we take stock of the North
American GAA Nationals over the
Labor Day Weekend in our main story.
Much planning and work goes into the
running of such a major tournament and
the host GAA city performed admirably.
It’s not every day that teams can make
the sacrifices necessary to attend a US
Nationals sometimes located at the far
side of the country. That said one thing
stood out over the three day tournament
is that everyone was intent in putting on
a good show and arrived with a spirit of
not being along for the ride but with a
strong will to compete swelling
the Boston air.
Meanwhile, it’s always exciting when
a person who loves a ‘foreign’ sport
but who comes from a different cultural
background, gets a chance to
experience first-hand that sport in the
flesh on its home turf. An American
made last weekend’s pulsating
All Ireland Hurling Final, and his
perspective speaks volumes as to how
Ireland’s national sport of hurling can
only grow in popularity.
