EMMETTS TOPPLE KILBURN
As the conclusion of this year’s London Senior Hurling Championship takes
place this weekend it was something of
a shock that in the recent semi-finals
that last year’s champions Kilburn Gaels
failed to advance to Sunday’s final.
The two senior hurling semis took place
on Saturday, October 17 at the Irish TV
Grounds Ruislip with the first semi between holders Kilburn Gaels and the

a goal 1-7 to 0-7. That goal came around the midway mark
and kept Emmetts noses in front. Kilburn gained parity
in the second period and with 10 minutes remaining the
champions pushed on shooting three points. At this stage it
looked that they might go on for the victory but alas it didn’t

TOO STRONG
In the second semi-final it was an altogether more cut and
dried affair as favourites St. Gabriels proved far too strong
for last year’s runners-up, Sean Treacy’s. This one was virtually over at half time with Gabriels leading by 0-10 to 0-2.
Treacy’s were on the backfoot for the half with their opening score only coming around the 17th minute mark. It got
worse in the second period as St. Gabriels picked off scores
at will with Treacy’s powerless to do anything about it. It fin-
