LONDON, ENGLAND OCTOBER 29, 2015 EMMETTS TOPPLE KILBURN As the conclusion of this year’s London Senior Hurling Championship takes place this weekend it was something of a shock that in the recent semi-finals that last year’s champions Kilburn Gaels failed to advance to Sunday’s final. The two senior hurling semis took place on Saturday, October 17 at the Irish TV Grounds Ruislip with the first semi between holders Kilburn Gaels and the in-form team of the season, Robert Emmetts. This was a very entertaining game with nothing in it all throughout. The difference in the end though was that Robert Emmetts got a pair of goals with the second one the crucial score and winning them a place in the decider. At the break after a back and forth game, Robert Emmetts led by a goal 1-7 to 0-7. That goal came around the midway mark and kept Emmetts noses in front. Kilburn gained parity in the second period and with 10 minutes remaining the champions pushed on shooting three points. At this stage it looked that they might go on for the victory but alas it didn’t 30 TOO STRONG In the second semi-final it was an altogether more cut and dried affair as favourites St. Gabriels proved far too strong for last year’s runners-up, Sean Treacy’s. This one was virtually over at half time with Gabriels leading by 0-10 to 0-2. Treacy’s were on the backfoot for the half with their opening score only coming around the 17th minute mark. It got worse in the second period as St. Gabriels picked off scores at will with Treacy’s powerless to do anything about it. It fin-
