SOUTH OZ SEASON UP
AND RUNNING
If the first round of the
2015/2016 state league is anything to go by, South Australia
GAA is in for a very exciting season with things having just got
underway.
Now that the GAA year in New
South Wales, Victoria, Queensland and Western Australia has
finished, it’s the turn of the folks
in southern Australia to shine
with their season underway in
the past two weeks.

in South Australia with competitions taking place over three
days each week at the Gaelic Football & Hurling Association
of South Australia grounds of St. Mary’s Park.
GAELIC 7’S
Similar to last year, we again see the Men’s Gaelic Football
7’s held every Wednesday evening with 10 teams in action
this season. This shortened form of Gaelic Football is specifically designed to introduce local and new players to the
game and to date has been very successful. St. Brendan’s 7’s
team won this competition last year and the sides this season
are Western Ireland, Lions, State Minors, Dingoes, Angrys,
Angrys.5, Irish Australians, Onkas, Beachies and Flinders.
The Gaelic 7’s started on October 14 and with two rounds
played it sees three teams on top with two wins out of two
– Beachies, Onkas and Western Ireland with Beaches in the
lead courtesy of a better scoring difference.
STATE LEAGUE
The premier event in Adelaide GAA circles is the State
League for both ladies and men’s Gaelic Football. There are
7 teams in each code and play 15-aside so it’s an impressive
