KILKENNY CLAIM 36TH ALL IRELAND TITLE BY DENIS O’BRIEN SEPTEMBER 16, 2015 Image: gaa.ie In the column we look back on the All Ireland Hurling Final between Kilkenny and Galway on September 6th at Croke Park where Kilkenny added to their modern era treasure throve of All Ireland titles when defeating Galway by 1-22 to 1-18. It was by no means a classic. It was tense and tough. As it is the norm in recent years, while there was sublime mo- 26 ments – Galway’s Jason Flynn’s high ball control and point, Kilkenny’s Ger Aylward arrow-like white flag from a tight angle – but for the most part it was a physical encounter. This game was all about intensity in the tackle with Galway winning this battle in the opening half but with the defending champions dominating in the all-important second half, the period in a game where matches are won and lost.
