FOREWORD FROM THE EDITOR
Commitment and effort are the hallmarks
of any endeavour be it in the everyday or in
sport. These elements stand out as central
to the forthcoming Australasian GAA State
Championships Sept 3-Oct 3 in New
Zealand.
This annual event is largely comprised of
Australian state squads from all parts with a
handful of New Zealand teams also
involved. The Kiwis in the city of Wellington
get to host this year’s championships and
so it means huge travel distances to be
covered for Australian players.
Sacrifices and no small amount of
commitment is needed for these same
players to take practically a week of work
in order to play sports that they truly love.
Given that the GAA is amateur reflects just
how big that love really is.
Effort is also needed to be good enough to
get on a state team. One can easily enough
slot into a club team but to be chosen to say
represent the state of New South Wales or
Victoria requires the ultimate in the way of
effort.
In our main story we look ahead to this
year’s Australasian’s in New Zealand.
