GAELIC SPORTS WORLD Issue 33 – September 4, 2015 | Page 2

FOREWORD FROM THE EDITOR It’s the biggest weekend of the Gaelic Sports calendar in America and it promises to be an experience to remember for all the participating teams and players. The North American GAA Finals take place this weekend Sept 4-6 in the city of Chicago with over 100 teams from across the US and Canada taking to six fields at Gaelic Park in the city for three days of non-stop Hurling, Men’s & Ladies Gaelic Football and Camogie action. The tournament features the best of GAA games in America with teams also travelling from Vancouver and Toronto in Canada and is a spectacle to behold given the sheer scale of the event and the numerous grade levels, codes and championship titles on offer. The experience for the players is second to none for GAA athletes in the United States and by Sunday evening there will have been much tears of joy and angst shed. Yet, over the years, players have said that the whole tournament has made them both better players and enriched their lives in some way. In our main story in this shortened version Issue 33, we preview this year’s US Nationals.
