Gaelic Sports World third Sample
Test magazine begins by looking into
what’s going on in the Lone Star state of
Texas in how this big sporting place is
sizing up to Gaelic Football and so far it
likes what it sees. In fact, some feel they
have to revisit their views on American
football’s physicality when compared
with the Irish sport.
In just eight short years a handful of
Irish expats and a growing drove of
Austin cowboys together with others
in Dallas, Houston and San Antonio are
beginning to carve out a new sporting
identity, an identity that is multi-ethnic,
pluralistic and endearing to Texans.
Does modern hurling have a new
secret ‘must have’ ingredient? We think
so and it’s intense.
Dropout is a fashionable term in
educational circles but it’s also in
vogue in world GAA, especially in areas
striving to grow interest among young
generations around the globe. We think
the coach has a big role to play in this
matter.
