MITCHELS CRUISE HOME
In the Division 1 Senior grade, John Mitchels have been going well this season in Brisbane and led the standings ahead
of their clash with bottom of the table Gold Coast. Coast
started minus players on account of some arriving late from
Gold Coast but nevertheless were hanging in there at the
break when trailing by five points 0-3 to 2-2. With a replenished squad for the remainder one felt that perhaps there

was an element of hope. However, Mitchels had other ideas
and pushed ahead while Coast unfortunately were not able
to add to their tally in that second half. It finished with a very
comfortable win for John Mitchels 4-13 to 0-3. Gold Coast
goalkeeper Anthony Burns pulled off some fine saves to keep
his side in the game in the first half and was helped also by
Patrick Flaherty and Chris Mullen. Mitchels had good performers in Tony Whelan, Paul Doherty and Conor McElroy.
