A ESTRADA, GALICIA 2015 IBERIAN CHAMPIONSHIP - ROUND 2 APRIL 9, 2015 GALICIA REIGN IN THE NORTH JERRY HOLMES REPORTING The second round of the 2015 Iberian Gaelic football championship took place on Saturday the 28th of March in A Estrada, Galicia. This was the first ever tournament held in A Estrada and it comprised of both men’s and ladies teams. Clubs from all around Spain and Galicia made the journey north to take part in the tournament but it was the home teams who dominated as Galician teams contested both the men’s and ladies finals. It ended with the hosts Irmandinhos A Estrada having teams in both finals. MADRID FAVOURITES Three weeks prior the opening round of the Iberian Championship took place in Madrid where the host’s enjoyed a great start to the season with a men’s and ladies double. In the Ladies competition Madrid Harpettes had edged out the native Galician team Irmandinhas A Estrada who shortly after were crowned the new Galician champions. This time around Irmandinos would be on home soil and perhaps a different result might ensue.
