“The feedback from the international units that competed
was first class, everybody was delighted with what they saw
and we got great credit from the Uachtaran [GAA President
Aogan O’Farrell], so I think that this is something that will
definitely continue,” the Mid East chairman said. He felt that
things had to go according to plan and was very satisfied
with how things panned out.
“We knew coming in that if there was going to be a second
and a third [world games] that we had to get the first one
right and I think we got everything pretty right over the
weekend.
“It was a great celebration of Gaelic Games; there was a
great international feel to it as well. This was a great success and I’ve no doubt that those who didn’t come fully
prepared will want to put that right for the next time and
those that went close in some of the competitions will also
what to put that right again,” he noted.
“From our side in the Middle East, we had a wonderful weekend, winning the first men’s and ladies world cup finals and we’re
delighted with that and we look forward to the next World Cup
wherever it is in the world. But a great success and I think this is
a competition that will run for many years to come.”
